The middle of this month brings the 150th anniversary of the birth of the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams (who spent his childhood at Leith Hill Place) and the anniversary of the dedication of Christ Church, Coldharbour.

These events will be marked by a recital of organ duets (two organists, one organ) at Christ Church on this coming Saturday, 15th, played by our organist David Hansell and his regular collaborator Philip Drew.

The varied programme, lasting about an hour, will feature pieces admired, composed and inspired by RVW (including Thomas Tomkins & JS Bach).

David and Philip will play their programme twice – at 12.00 noon and 4.00 pm, with refreshments served beforehand in each case.

The Christ Church organ, which is known to have been played by RVW, has recently had some refurbishment and repairs and should sound at its noble best.

Admission to the recitals is free. There will be a retiring collection in aid of church and organ maintenance
